Who is Multiskilled Resources Australia (MRA)?

In a nutshell, we are a multi-discipline (predominantly electrical) professional engineering consultancy and service provider.
Formed in 1998, by Ken Hipwell and Doug Lithgow, MRA has rapidly expanded to become a high performance company that remains genuinely people-focused.
We can either:
Listen to your problem and design a solution, then if required supply appropriate staff to deliver this solution; OR
Supply staff to deliver your solution, either in management or at a functional level

The people behind the company

	Doug Lithgow B.E. (Elec) – Director/Principal Engineer Doug has more than 35 years’ experience in the industry as a professional electrical engineer form a practical beginning as an electrician. With a broad experience in multi-discipline projects, his specialist areas are automation, control systems and drives. Doug’s passion is developing solutions that best suit the operation and the user and work reliably and simply through a combination of technology and proven techniques and elements. “I’m not driven by financial benefits, I really enjoy site based work, being involved, mentoring and developing new engineers and achieving ngineering excellence. Away form work I like the natural peace of the outback and camping with my partner”
	Ken Hipwell – Director/Principal Engineer Ken brings over 30 years’ experience in the industry as an electrician and electrical engineer. While he also has broad experience in multi-discipline projects, Ken’s area of expertise is project and construction management. Ken’s passion is to drive projects, pull people together and work as a team to achieve. “I find it difficult to sit still, I enjoy people and working together to take action. I give 100% to make things happen. People, relationships and loyalty are important to me. I personally get involved and love to make things possible for others.”
	Paul Brooker B.E. (Elec) MBA – General Manager Paul adds over 28 years’ of industrial experience to the company. He’s a professional electrical engineer, a NSW certified open cut mine electrical engineer and has 10 years experience in management roles. Paul’s passion is continuous improvement and development of people and our business and its systems. “I enjoy pursuing the best solutions and delivering high quality results. Todays technology offers powerful tools we can adapt to provide consistant and efficient outcomes. The bigger picture, strategy, challenges, learning and personal development and attention to detail are key motivators for me. Balance of work and family is fundamental, I like activities where we can share our experiences and enjoy each others company.”
	Terry Lynch – Engineering Manager Terry brings over 32 years’ of industrial experience as an electrican and electrical engineer. He has a practical background in mining with particular expertise in clarifying needs and leading a team towards delivery. Terry’s passion is meeting or exceeding expectations for the client, my employer and the employees. “I really enjoy travel to learn and understand different people, cultures and values, the more exotic and hard to get to the better. I get excited about outdoor activities, snow skiing with the family, outdoor adventure sports, wilderness hiking. Spending time with family and seeing my daughters grow, learn and explore life and being excited by what life has to offer.”

Who we are today

MRA has a team in excess of 30 engineers, technicians and drafts people.
On the one hand, our experience ranges from young enthusiastic trainees and graduates, who we want to nurture as our future leaders.

On the other, we have more established engineers, who with their comprehensive knowledge and skills deal with more complex problems requiring insight. These engineers may work independently or lead project teams.

At the end of the scale we have the Principal Engineers, who are actively involved in all major projects. There astute direction is used to keep a watching eye over the rest of us and to direct us to the optimum results and avoid pitfalls.

Our large team with its bredth of ages, experience, skills and specialties enables us to capably and reliably support you in any aspect of Electrical Power & Control Engineering. Along with that we can meet other engineering needs as well.

Warabrook Office

In Newcastle:

• we have training and meeting rooms, plus the capacity to house project teams (our own and our customers’)
• the office design is complemented by a factory floor that enables:
  • pre-installation testing and commissioning of equipment
  • this requires experience, understanding, insight, documented processes, risk management, coordination, supervision and technical skills – all of which we have
• close to Newcastle’s industrial facilities
• central to all our clients and employees
• easy access – just off the expressway from Sydney, on route from Newcastle to the Hunter Valley and close to the airport

In Mackay:
